Understanding 3d dxf Rotation

This example shows how to create a hole in an object
As you can see depending on what you are trying to create
and how you create it you can rotate on either x or y
in crossroads
Using lines and Arcs make a template for your model
then use Solid polygon and trace around your template
I made the one below in 2 parts
Understanding Rotation

If you were to compare the carpet beneath your feet as your monitor screen
and drive a peice of rebar into the floor this rebar will represent the z axis
looking straight down at the carpet the x axis is east/west and the

y axis is north/south

Let's Give the polygon a height of say 2"
add this drawing to your floorstack and
generate a 3d shaded and then export as acad14 dxf to a new folder
I call mine 3d dxf to Crossroads
When you form a polygon in SP it is flat, for instance it is like placing the polygon on your carpet and you are looking down at it therefore
it needs to be rotated toward you
Download "crossroads" from the net and open this dxf file in that program
Rotate 90 degrees on the x axis save as acad dxf this will turn the object toward you
now place this file in sp 3d symbol directory folder of your choice

In Sp create a 2d object to simulate your symbol(box or what have you )
This Step is also quite important as far as the orientation
The  Picture below shows what you would do when making the 2d symbol

remember to size the symbol according to width and depth
Now go to system library and add the symbol linking to the 3d dxf in that folder you placed the dxf in

In the  example below it shows y rotated 90
rotating on the z axis does not help us or serve any purpose as we get the same result by rotating the polygon in SP
