- I formed Distinctive Designs, a residential
design and drafting company,
as a one-man home office in March of 1998. I had finally
decided to build a business based on a life-long interest, volumes
of reading, college architectural training, and too many site trips.
- I started as a CAD draftsman and almost
immediately began designing for my employer - a
production builder putting up about 130 homes a year
between 1100 and 3100 square feet. In addition to my current
production work, I am
expanding the business to include the custom market, designing
about 5 homes a year in the 2600 to 7000 square foot range.
- I have enough college credits to be deemed a professional
student. Most of my courses were in Computer Science
and Business.
I am 30 years old (no one believes a woman who says
she's 29 anyway) and have been married for 7 years
(actually he's out of the country half the
year, so I've really been married for only 3½ years).
- Together we have a 3-year-old son who never sees enough of
his mommy. We also have a 175-
pound St. Bernard putz, a housedog named Colonel
Douglass Mortimer (think Spaghetti Western). We live in a
historic house in a historic neighborhood, which really
means we live in a perpetual money pit!
