Finding the length of arc chords

In site mode, you can view the line length (known as the arc cord ) but it's not possible (to my knowledge)to edit it. The best workaround I have found is to place lines or construction points. Then if you enable snaps, you can use the 3point arc to create a new arc, with a known line length.
