Walls
Using Wall Definitions for Things Other Than Walls

Recently a Softplan user required crown moulding around the top of their wall cabinets. Softplan does come with some very nice crown type mouldings but the problem lies within outside corners. When you place a symbol the outside corner will not form correctly. By the use of the wall definition menu you can create a moulding that can be drawn using a wall. The graphic below shows this method.

Remember to use materials that are not present in other walls within your drawing by building up the wall using different materials you can attach different textures to each piece. Using a siding texture will give the impression that the top and bottom of each piece in the makeup is rounded over. This method allows you to quickly place the moulding around your cabinets. You merely need to edit the offset. This method also allows for the curved fillet command. With this you could make mouldings around say "bars"- the possibilities are endless.
